Claim a brief

Every brief Caelus publishes is open for someone to build against. Each one includes the data, the location, the affected population, the uncertainty, and suggested technical approaches.

What you get: The full brief and data, direct access to the analysis behind it, and an introduction to organizations working in that region where we have one to make.
What we ask: That you actually build, and that you talk to people in the region before you decide what they need.

Request a region

If you know a place that deserves a closer look, tell us. This is the most useful thing anyone outside Caelus can do. Satellite data can tell us where signals diverge, but it cannot tell us where to point first. People who live and work in a place can.

Submit a location and what you think is being missed. We will run it through Delos and produce a brief.

Cost: If you work for a community organization in that area, this is free and always will be.

Work on the instrument

This is the technical side of Caelus. If you work in synthetic aperture radar, remote sensing, Earth observation, geospatial analysis, or machine learning over overhead imagery, there is real work here.

Speckle filtering, change detection, flood and damage segmentation, multi-sensor fusion, and running inference cheaply enough to be useful in the field. These are the problems that decide whether any of the rest of it works.

Ground truth: If you have field data that contradicts our inference, we want it. Correcting what we have wrong is worth more to us than any new feature.
Data and tooling: Kairos, our SAR research tool, is free and open to use. If you want a standing data feed for a region, ask.
Your own idea: If you have a use for this data we have not thought of, pitch it. A good idea from outside is exactly the thing we cannot generate internally.
